The city has undergone an extensive population and development boom over the course of the past few decades, making Sandy Springs one of the most vibrant areas of North Georgia.

The city of Sandy Springs traces its roots back to the 1800s, when the first settler arrived in the area. For nearly a century, Sandy Springs remained a quiet and largely rural area, but the community grew immensely when Georgia 400 and Interstate 285 were built. These roadways created a direct link between Sandy Springs and Atlanta, as well as the other communities scattered across North Georgia. In turn, Sandy Spring became a popular destination for both residents and businesses searching for proximity to Atlanta.
